Chartreuse
Do what you told her, to do
Over the last several weeks, I keep on hearing two very specific songs on my insta feed. They play on in the backdrop of my head throughout my days. Being a sensitive person, I am aware that my emotions are activated by visuals, and music. Both songs have an energy that I feel in my body while the various clips play on. One of them is called “The Hanging Tree” by James Newton Howard. Written by Lucy Gray Baird, from the movie “The Hunger Games.” The other song is “Labour-cacophony” by Paris Paloma, it is a powerful feminist song. The link for both songs and video are below, at the end of this post.
The energy of the voices, music and words of these songs feel very relevant for now. My feelings are intense, as likely are yours regardless of color, gender, or country. There is a movement happening, we are seeing it, feeling it and finding our way in it.
Today’s Color is Chartreuse. Timed: about 30 minutes
Do what you told her, to do -Deana Downs
For days my eyes see red.
The tears won’t release,
my throat is clenched,
It wants release.
‘Go outside’
my head says to me.
‘Stand in the cold,
and do
what you told
your daughter
to do.’
Zero degrees, on my knees
in the sunshine,
atop a chartreuse garden buried.
Under snow and ICE
Eyes watering,
and freezing in duality,
I scream out.
Again,
And again,
And again,
And again,
And again.
Until,
I am
Emptied out.
I am a Woman screaming,
(no one wants to hear that)
a Woman Out-crying,
(no one wants to see OR hear that)
Encircled,
in a puddle of chartreuse.
Until next time,
Deana~
