Indigo
and Moody Monday images
Indigo waters on the east side of Lake Michigan, in Holland “Mish.” Taken in the last moments of sunset. The reflection of the sun in the water looks like the lights of a city.
My color prompt the other day was indigo, but I chose to take a day off from writing. Instead I am going to share images of Indigo, on this sunny, ‘Moody Monday'.
Black & Blue Salvia. If you haven’t had this annual before, and want hummingbirds to grace your presence, then this is the plant for you. The dark blue flowers come out of a darker indigo blue pod, and after the blooms come a multitude of teeny tiny seeds.
Another shot of Lake Michigan. I have loved this great lake for most of my life. For decades I enjoyed it on the Chicago side; riding my bike to watch the sunrise, sun tanning on the rocks at Lee Steet beach, sitting down to watch the waves while eating fried shrimp from the Fish Keg and hanging out for music and fun at Navy Pier. Then I discovered the lake, Michigan side in Holland Mish, and have enjoyed how it fuels so many of my moods and feelings. I don’t think I have ever noticed the water being indigo colored until today. It’s all about lighting and the weather. I love what Mother Nature creates in every moment.
These indigo blue and white dishes were my grandmothers; ‘Blue Danube’ from Japan. They were only used for special occasions. Since receiving this china, I choose to use it as often as I can. The tea cups were my MIL’s and they go together perfectly, creating a nice boho vibe.
Frozen and thawing ice with indigo, purples, gold and white! There must have been oil of some sort in the water. The sun and clouds created this visual. I am always fascinated by how nature moves through the changing of the seasons and how we only witness so much of it.
I will end with this one, another wonderful trip in Holland Mish. Yes, indigo clouds, yes blue and dark gray clouds, with the impossibly seeming sunshine across from it all. Huge gusts of wind blow off the lake, making the storm threat go away. I am standing still in the middle of it, experiencing the darkness and the light all at once. This was a powerful day, and for this experience, I was alone, but felt held by the Mother, Nature.
Until next time,
Deana~
